~*PhD Defense: Marina Sturm*~

Marina joined the Research Training Group in 2014.

Her doctoral project (B3) within the RTG 1947 is titeled"Investigation of the pH and temperature dependent properties of tetramyristoyl cardiolipin and its behavior in model membranes“. We are looking forward to her defense on April 5th!

From October 2014 the DFG is funding the Research Training Group 1947 Biochemical, Biophysical, and Biomedical Effects of Reactive Oxygen and Nitrogen Species on Biological Membranes - "BiOx" - at the University of Greifswald and the University Medicine Greifswald.

Biological Membranes define living cells and determine their interaction with their environment. Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) profoundly affect the physico-chemical properties and thereby the physiological functions of biological membranes.

In an interdisciplinary and interfaculty approach we aim to overcome the traditional boarders between biochemistry, biophysics, medicine, botany, and pharmacy to analyse the mechanisms of ROS/RNS production and interaction with all constitutents of biological membranes.
